I completely agree with you bro, AOE3 is only a RTS. AOE2 was much much better. you could choose between different civilizations and each had unique abilities and features. The number of forts and towers was unlimited, whereas in AOE 3 only limited towers=14 and one fort. no matter how much gold food or wood. and the buildings collapse very fast. in AOE 2 forts and walls were stronger whereas AOE3 is like cardboard. All graphics and no game play. Well said bro.

Age of Empires 2 was awarded as the Game of the Year (2002). It was, no doubt, the best strategy game ever. But things are changing and Age of Empires is evolving. You will see soldiers and tanks in Age of Empires 4! So it's a change and we have to accept it.

I have played aoe2 and aoe3, and I have yo say aoe3 wins. Number 2 is just a 2d version of aoe3. Exploring the new world in my opinion is better then counquering a kingdom. Oh and to the person talking about the "magic", it's actually the fountain of youth which turns out to be a legend, so yeah, no magic.

The Aztecs in AOE 3 The Warchiefs suck in comparison to the Aztecs in the aoe 2 expansion. Theres some cool things in AOE 3 like Native tribes and trade routs But on the whole its pretty dissapointing.

Gaming hasn't 'evolved' to produce games like Age of Empires III if that is what you suggest. It's the franchise selling out. That's like saying computers operating systems in general have 'evolved' into Windows Vista, so just get with it, buy it and start using it. No, real mistakes have been made! At least as much thought was put into making Age of Kings, without the modern graphics, but like chess great games will never die - they can be remade. Who in gods name would remake AoE 3?

AOE II!!!. anybody who has a non bias point of view will agree. I played AOE III first loved it had to play the others. AOE II for sure. more multilayer civs and freedoms. Gameplay is far superior on II. There are tons of strategies. to beat your opponents.

I hate A011. The sodiers are sad and guys cant even go on the walls wtf.Fodd is too easy to get too.A03 is ok but not my type. Its too linear.Why have musketeers when you can have skermishers. huh?
You should try stronghold 1,stronghold crusader,and stronghold 2.Here is an example of stronghold,to make bread you need to make a wheat farm then a mill to make it into grain nexta bakery to make it bread.Also you have to make weapons to make soideirs.Guys can go on walls to even some seige weapons.So {beeeeep} age of empires if you want good gameplay. I rate age of empires a 3/10. Thank you for your time.

Aoe 3 was more like a combo of rise of nations and age of mythology with only a tiny bit of AOE lineing, trying to cover up what it really is.

PS AOM is cool, Rise of nations is cool but when badly combined and 'trained' to be AOE It sucks!

It has a dead campaign unlike the cool one on AOM 2, AOM 1 and age of mythology which were beautifully in AOE spirit. Even Rise of nations campaigns were more historically correct!

Aoe II is by far my favorite. Aoe III seemed more like a graphics contest like "Look, we trashed AOE, but we got a cool physics engine!" The only improvement on AOE III was the home city. I like the idea of being rewarded for playing a good game, but i think it could have been implemented better. Like each level you go to a skill table where you can "Increase infantry melee attack by 1. 0/3" and that would permenantly upgrade your soldiers, but the table would also include passive abilities, like the home city in AOE III. So in conclusion, remake AOE II with AOE III graphics but with a better level up system and keep the medieval theme.

Age of Empires II was the best RTS game I ever played, and it still is. I was really excited when I found out AOE III was coming out, but when I bought it, I was... disappointed. Although I like how the home city feature rewards you for paying well over time, I think it has a bit TOO much of an effect on the gameplay. I was winning games almost entirely off shipments.
And then there's the story. I'm sorry, but when you go from real medieval battles to these generic Circle of Osshole people that want to rule the world or something, you've ruined the singleplayer campaign. I don't care whether the fountain was magic or not - Actually you know what? I do care. I want to know why the six or seven hundred soldiers that died in battle throughout that campaign needed to die to protect that fountain if THE WHOLE THING WAS FAKE. I just hated the campaign, and while granted, the map editor lets you DO more, it's a ton harder to use, and a ton harder to create realistic looking maps. What I would love to see is
